Total return regulations: Review published
The Charity Commission for England and Wales has published a review of the Charities (Total Return) Regulations 2013. The review, informed by comments from stakeholders including ACF, found that the regulations are achieving their objectives of increasing the take-up of a total return approach and reducing the regulatory burden for charities. The Commission also found that there were some minor technical issues, which it will address, as well as some issues of language and terminology that it won’t be addressing at this time.
ACF submitted comments from members to inform the review, which included highlighting the challenges of accounting and valuing the original endowment.
