SORP: Consultation on governance

The charity regulators in the UK and Ireland have opened a consultation on the governance behind the SORP, the charity Statement of Recommended Practice. The consultation forms part of a review, undertaken by an oversight panel led by Professor Gareth Morgan, which aims to ensure the SORP-making process instils transparency and public confidence, and to assure the Financial Reporting Council that arrangements adhered to its policy on developing SORPs.

The consultation, which closes on 4 February 2019, asks questions on the role of the SORP, the composition of the SORP Committee, its engagement with stakeholders, and whether guidance should be issued for non-statutory financial reporting. The review is not looking at the content or technical detail of the SORP. More information can be found here.
