Common Reporting Standard

ACF has led a coalition of sector bodies in expressing serious concern that the Common Reporting Standard, which requires endowed funders to collect and report tax information on grant recipients, will have a negative impact on thousands of organisations and individuals.

In a joint letter to the Minister for Civil Society, Rob Wilson MP, and all three UK charity regulators, ACF together with  Charity Finance Group and the Association of Charitable Organisations warned that: the administrative burden will be excessive for both grantees and funders; that it may erode trust and limit prospective funding applications; it is incompatible with data protection requirements; and that the regime could breach fundamental human rights for those working with minority communities or controversial causes in hostile environments overseas.
