ACF appoints Carol Mack as its new CEO
ACF has appointed Carol Mack as its new Chief Executive.
Carol has been appointed to the role following 12 years as Deputy Chief Executive, during which time she has been instrumental in the developing the organisation’s strategy, ensuring its financial stability and overseeing its growing influence as an advocate for trusts and foundations throughout the UK.
Prior to her appointment at ACF, Carol worked advising charities on governance and charity law, as well as national policy formulation at the Charity Commission for England & Wales. She also has experience in grass-roots charities and the commercial sector where she began her career in the international trading and refining division of an oil company. In a voluntary capacity she is Chair of the Wales Funders Forum, Vice Chair of Tree Aid, and a former member of the Audit Committee at Victim Support.
Carol said: “I am both proud and thrilled to be taking up the role of Chief Executive at what is a key moment for the organisation, its members and the sector more widely. Effective foundations are essential to the health and diversity of civil society and I look forward to working on their behalf to maintain and enhance a policy and operating environment that supports their vital work.“
Following a short handover period, Carol will take up the role in December, 2016.
David Emerson CBE said: “Carol’s tireless and inspirational work over the last decade speaks for itself. Her knowledge of the sector, immense drive, and exceptional skill-set make her an excellent appointment. As the organisation enters a new strategic period Carol will offer the continuity, clear-sighted leadership and fresh vision that is needed to ensure ACF continues to go from strength-to-strength. I know she will be extremely effective in supporting the membership in their commitment to their own missions and in their support for civil society
ACF Chair Amanda Jordan OBE said: “After a rigorous process, during which the panel spoke to a number of excellent candidates, the decision to appoint Carol was unanimous. The breadth of her experience, combined with her unrivalled commitment to, and knowledge of ACF and its membership left us in no doubt she was the right person for the job. I am delighted she accepted our offer and I speak for the entire Board when I say how much we are looking forward to working with her in the coming years.”
