Making a difference to perinatal mental health

Up to one in five women and one in ten men are affected by mental health problems during pregnancy and the first year after birth. Unfortunately, only 50% of these are diagnosed. Without appropriate treatment, the negative impact of mental health problems during the perinatal period is enormous and can have long-lasting impact. We will hear recent learnings from a Perinatal Mental Health funding programme as to what impact interventions can have.
There will be a brief presentation from Big Society Capital introducing how social investment can play a positive role in the mental health arena and giving examples of how we can have a more active role in influencing change. There will also be opportunities to network and share ideas with peers.
