Introduction to unconscious bias

Speakers/presenters

  • brap

This interactive introduction to unconscious bias workshop introduces participants to the concept of unconscious bias, outlines different kinds of bias, and shows how they help the formation of 'in' and 'out' groups. It explains in a safe and non-confrontational way how bias might affect you and the way you interact with people. It finishes by outlining some tips on how to catch yourself acting on unconscious bias.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • have a better understanding of bias and how it can help to address issues of inclusion and inequality
  • understand how bias is reproduced and maintained
  • know how to apply strategies which can help them and others to de-bias

The workshop is delivered by brap, one of the country's most credible equality and human rights charities.

Part of ACF’s Stronger Foundations learning programme – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
