Wakefield & Tetley is a place-based charitable trust working to address poverty and social justice through grant making. We fund small charities and community initiatives in three London boroughs – Tower Hamlets, Southwark and The City of London. We are looking to move towards an incorporated structure as well as implementing the Charity Governance Code in full, we will also be reviewing our funding strategy in 2020.
The Trust has several vacancies created by the retirement of long standing Trustees and we would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have experience in finance, social policy/ research, communications and the non-profit sector.
Who should apply?
We are looking for Trustees with an enthusiasm for our work. An impressive CV is not as important as how you demonstrate that your particular perspective will add value to the Board team. We would also prefer you to be resident in Tower Hamlets, Southwark or the City of London, and possibly active in your neighbourhood or a local initiative.
Please consider if you can offer the following:
· Being able and willing to commit time and energy to the Trust’s needs for discussion and regular meetings (3 meetings every 3 months at maximum) in the London Bridge area
· Being interested and willing to undertake appropriate training and development, funded by the Trust, in order to fulfil the responsibilities of a Trustee (if relevant)
· Having good interpersonal skills, a willingness to work as part of a team and to represent the Trust publicly at local meetings
Please note: We reimburse travel and other reasonable expenses you will incur to attend meetings.
If you want to know more, please email us at email@example.com for further details and an application form. We are very happy to have an informal chat; please include your contact number with your email. You will need to apply by the deadline Monday 09 December at 5pm.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with current Trustees. If you are selected, you will be invited to observe a Board meeting before undertaking formal induction and attending your first formal meeting.
