BBC Children in Need exists to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Our refreshed objectives and activities will ensure the impact we have on children’s lives is front and centre of the work the charity undertakes over and above the projects and services we fund.

Our focus is on finding and funding the inspiring ideas that change children’s lives.

Role Responsibility

The Impact Evaluation Manager will develop and leverage their expertise gained through the management of our programme evaluations and analysis of data on our impact in children’s lives. In doing so they will strengthen organisational understanding of the impact of our grant making activity and identify how to maximise that impact over time.

The Impact Evaluation Manager will commission and manage BBC Children in Need’s programme evaluations – working closely with external partners to ensure best practice research methods are used to maximise insight and inform future funding activity.

You will provide expertise on the principles, metrics and application of impact measurement, and the application of grant-making data to inform decision making across the organisation. You will advise senior stakeholders around the analysis and interpretation of key reports, identifying insight that will drive action. In addition, you will advise teams about the most effective way to capture data and to ensure it is of the highest quality to use for meaningful analysis.

The Impact Evaluation Manager will analyse grant making data alongside bespoke project data, and interpret themes to develop key insights about BBC Children in Need's grant making activity. You will conduct further qualitative analysis to create stories about the impact of our work. You will consolidate all learning with other data sources to continually improve and leverage the Insight team's expertise.

The Impact Evaluation Manager will ensure all learning and evaluation activities anticipate end-users needs, such as organisations Executive team, grantees, practitioners and other funders, in order that all Insight is relevant, accessible, informs decisions and helps improves children and young people’s lives across the UK.

Are you the right candidate?

The Impact Evaluation Manager for Children in Need will be a skilled research & evaluation professional with demonstrable experience in the design, management and application of social change programme evaluations, as well as extracting impact and deeper learning through ongoing monitoring and analysis.

Ideally, you will have a thorough knowledge of the voluntary sector, especially within the field of disadvantaged children and young people, with strong project management skills and an ability to prioritise efficiently and deliver to deadlines.

You will have experience in working with large bespoke databases, and will have demonstrable evidence of being data quality focussed. We are looking for someone who can creatively analyse qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources and tell stories in an engaging way. You will have strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distil multiple sources of data and research into compelling insight that will drive action.

You will be a strong team player, with the ability to adapt and work effectively with different situations and people with a natural curiosity about how Insight can add value to the organisation.
