Prospectus is delighted to be working closely with the BSA to recruit a Grants Manager to lead on an exciting new development programme focusing on inclusion and diversity funded by the Wellcome Trust.

This role is offered on a permanent basis with initial funding confirmed for 2 years.

The role:

This essential role will work closely with the Head of Grants to design and lead a brand new grants funding programme aimed at supporting individuals and organisations across the UK to engage public audiences with health research. You will build on existing good practice and bring onboard new voices and communities to make a real step-change to public engagement with health research.

This will involve ensuring excellent participatory grant-making processes are installed and followed, high quality assessments, due diligence, professional levels of customer service and top notch support to a national team of locally based development coordinators will all be major components of this role. Supporting the Head of Grants in all aspects of this work, you will also concentrate on championing innovation in health research across public engagement and funding audiences in addition to providing solid administration support to all of the processes essential to the smooth running of the grants programmes. This role will also be responsible for managing a small pipeline of discretionary grants to support local work where necessary.

The person:

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in grant-making with lots of partnership working and strong project management experience. An accomplished multi-tasker with developed analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, this person will be a strong communicator and an energetic self-starter. Resilient, agile and innovative this person will see the potential and recognise the importance of the work of BSA in general and more specifically, the exciting opportunities created by this new stream of funding. Designing successful programmes which support disadvantaged groups, community driven project management and coaching small teams will be very useful but not essential.

This role represents a superb opportunity for the right person to play a pivotal part in driving forward the success of this exciting and innovative programme of funding with ambitious and well researched aims and objectives.
