The Peter Harrison Foundation was established by Peter Harrison KGCN CBE in 1999. It is governed by a board of family trustees, has net assets of over £48 million and makes grants to good causes of about £2 million annually. Grant giving is focused on three broad areas of need:
- Opportunities for self-development through participation in sport, including sport for disadvantaged and disabled people;
- Care of children and young people with special needs; and
- Education, with a particular interest in supporting Harrison Scholarships and capital development at Reigate Grammar School.
Reporting to the Foundation Director as part of a small team, the Administrator has an essential role in supporting these grant giving programmes including database input and maintenance, correspondence with applicants and benefiting charities, ensuring that files are up to date and in good order, dealing with enquiries and initial grant applications and maintenance of the Foundation’s website.
The successful candidate will have substantial office management experience, preferably within the charity sector and ideally with a grant making organisation. He or she will be self-motivated and able to work independently, be a good communicator in writing and have a friendly and diplomatic telephone manner. Some knowledge or previous experience of the grant making database Benefactor would be an advantage and a demonstrable facility with MS Office and other modern IT systems essential.
