Applicants for this position should be able to demonstrate skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

 As a fund manager;

 Developing investment strategies and policies appropriate to charities; (particularly grant giving charities), including asset allocation;

 Monitoring and assessing the performance of investment managers;

 The environmental, social and governance aspects of investment management and the principles of ethical investing.

BFSS is one of the oldest educational charities in the world and is a leader in grant giving to small and medium sized charities focused on addressing educational disadvantage in the UK and around the world. We make annual grants of around £1m per annum to UK based charities. Our income comes mainly from our investment portfolio, which reached over £26 million at the end of 2019. The Society draws income and, as necessary, capital from its investment portfolio to support its grant-giving; it does not at present engage in fund-raising.

It’s an exciting time to be joining us and we’re looking people with the commitment, vision and expertise to contribute to writing the next chapter in our story.
