Our story begins in 1958. Her Majesty The Queen gives Royal Assent to establish investment funds for parishes, schools, dioceses and cathedrals of the Church of England. In 1961, similar funds were established for local authorities; and, in 1963, the Charity Commission joined-in, enabling the wider charity market to benefit. With the introduction of financial services regulation in 1987, Churches, Charities and Local Authorities Investment Management Limited was formed.

Today, CCLA is the UK’s leading charity investment manager, majority owned by the two largest charity ESG funds in the UK[1]. Our ambition is to deliver trusted, responsibly managed, strongly performing products and services aligned to our clients’ values and purpose. The true impact of shareholder engagement (June 2021)
Amy Browne, stewardship lead at CCLA, will discuss the impact of shareholder engagement, including work on modern slavery and mental health. David Ellis, who leads CCLA's work on corporate governance including research, engagement and proxy voting, will explore active ownership. The session will also cover CCLA’s efforts to bring about systemic change, working with government and building coalitions of investors and investment managers.

Heather Lamont, director – client investments
Heather has worked in charity finance and management since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1992. Her other qualifications include the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Diploma, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a Diploma in Charity Accounting from the ICAEW. She joined CCLA in 2008, from the charities team at HSBC Global Asset Management. Heather is a trustee of the UK-wide Honorary Treasurers Forum and of the Robertson Trust, Scotland’s largest independent charitable grant maker. Email Heather.


Oliver Jones-Davies, director - client investments

Oliver Jones-Davies, director – client investments
Oliver joined CCLA in September 2009, prior to which he worked in investment management and investment banking. As a fund manager his responsibilities included the active management of cash, bonds and equities for high net worth individuals and charities. In investment banking he advised and managed complex institutional clients and also took a leading role on the public offering of a number of European government owned companies. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and has an MA in Economics and Economic History from Edinburgh University. Email Oliver.
