AI and the modern grant-making organisation

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in various sectors, and the not-for-profit sector is no exception. As organisations strive to maximise their impact and efficiency, integrating AI technologies can provide novel solutions and opportunities.

The use of artificial intelligence came to prominence with the deployment of Open AI’s generative model, Chat GPT. This has spawned thousands of other applications that are all jockeying for position in this increasingly highly innovative marketplace.

Many software providers are now building AI into their products but what does that mean for your organisation, and how should/could you adapt? There are many myths and fantasies surrounding AI, but change is normal in the technology sector and this is where tried and tested techniques for understanding what’s on the horizon and planning for change come into play.

Adapta has extensive experience of helping organisations to apply new technologies in a way that helps them to discern which technologies are likely to deliver real benefits to their organisation. This short session will help you understand where to start with AI, provide answers to some of the following questions, and enable you to quiz leading non-profit technology experts.

How and where could AI play a role at your organisation?

  • What is, and isn’t AI?
  • What are other organisations doing?
  • What AI use cases are emerging in grant-making organisations?
  • What AI use cases are emerging in charities?

Where are the AI tools that you can adopt?

  •  You may already have access to some AI tools already - in your CRM, in your office productivity tools, or elsewhere – how can some of these tools support the AI use cases that are emerging?

How do we get started?

  • How can you help trustees and your SMT understand the opportunities and risks of AI?
  • How can you start exploring some of the use cases for AI within our organisation?
  • What else might you need to do - sorting out your data? identifying and addressing the ethical challenges?
