Asylum, refugee and migration network meeting

Addressing Statelessness in the UK's Evolving Migration & Asylum Landscape.

Join us for an event examining statelessness and its impact on the UK's refugee and migrant populations.

The European Network on Statelessness (ENS), alongside its UK NGO and community members will present and discuss potential solutions to this global issue within the UK context. Key topics include coordinating advocacy efforts that prioritise the perspectives of affected communities, addressing statelessness amidst evolving UK migration and asylum realities, ensuring every child's right to a nationality, the unique challenges faced by stateless communities like Palestinians, Kurds, Bidoons, and Rohingya, and the mental health impacts of statelessness.

Although organisations in the migration and asylum sector engage with stateless individuals, statelessness frequently remains an overlooked issue. Properly identifying and addressing statelessness among migrant and refugee populations is crucial to prevent discrimination and human rights violations, as well as to avoid children in the UK growing up without a nationality.

Discussions will focus on how funders can support integrated approaches that bring together diverse stakeholders to address statelessness and empower affected communities.
